Monday: The April photoshoot was hard to find images that would relate to the questions being asked. I found it more difficult because a lot if the topics were pretty vague and open ended and I had a difficulty creating those images. it is fun to try and imagine images reflecting society. Tuesday: painting with light-photography technique where you illuminate parts of your scene with a torch or other light, to add emphasis and color to certain objects during a long exposure. https://www.uniquephoto.com/photoinsider/light-painting-photography-tips-tricks-to-paint-with-light http://photodoto.com/light-painting-tutorials/ Silhouettes: is a wonderful way to convey drama, mystery, emotion and mood in a picture. A silhouette is defined as a view of an object or a scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. https://digital-photography-school.com/silhouette-photography-technique/ https://expertphotography.com/create-spectacular-silhouette-photography/ Wednesday: Reflections when taking photos is that they can completely alter the image from something fairly straightforward to something richer or abstract or otherwise more artistic. https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/11/50-beautiful-examples-of-reflections-photography/ Bokeh: The aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". https://www.pinterest.com/pin/622904192182263336/ Thursday: I learned that the history of landscape photography is closely related with the history of the exploration of the American West. Another thing that i learned is tips for how to take better street photography such as: Be patient. Try and find natural framing. Take breaks to look at things from new angles and to check your camera. Pay attention to details. Make use of reflections and shadows. Don't be afraid to approach people. Never delete any photos. Friday: our class has more golden color but other classrooms such as the lunchrooms who have very bright florescent lights have a mood of very awake and alive. It makes people either more attentive or usually natural sunlight makes people more relaxed and not conformed to rules. This is because of average social patterns, we connect certain lightings with moods and behavior patterns that become a natural function of our lives.

Monday: We watched a video on the history of photography, it was very interesting to learn about the beginning. It really surprised me about how early photos were invented. It was also crazy to see that for 1800 years nothing really changed, but in the past 15 years things have completely changed in the digital world . Tuesday: testing Wednesday: I'm doing documentary photography because it looked interesting to be able to capture events to inform people on what is happening. You can also tell a story with it ehich is the main purpose of every photo but for this genre it is the sole purpose. Thursday: Ive found it really interesting that most of the photos that i have seen in the documentary category are in black and white. I would have thought that trying to document something would require a lot of color details, but it seems that the opposite is true. Friday: I found it really interesting how much documentary photography has influenced news and media outlets throughout history. It is one of the most used arts for reporting and making history. I am enjoying this genre because i like showing people what i am experiencing and telling a sory adn i think this a very good genre for doing that.
Monday: 1. the pyramids- This completely shifted my perspective on the area surroundings he pyramids The first photo makes it feel really separated and remote but the second photo shows the reality of a city right. 2. Taj Mahal- The first photo shows a beautiful place that is almost paradise. But in the reality it shows a very dramatic and horrible dump with trash and pollution everywhere. I found these perspective changes interesting. It kind of bursted my bubble on what i thought these place would look like. they were interesting but kind of ruined the wonder of going to these places. Seeing the bigger pictures can usually bring more understanding but can also ruin the beauty. Its the same as when you understand all the techniques and workings of a trade tat the finished product loses its beauty. Sometime ignorance is truly bliss. Tuesday: All of these photos demonstrate good usage of rules. The first one has a great rule of thirds and is a really compelling image, while the second photo really leads my eyes up to the of the building. It really focuses on the central image . While the third photo has nice lines that make a cool effect on the object. Wednesday: My plan is to take the photos of the 2nd part with a partner soon and do the photo essay soon as homework. Thursday: look over notes Friday: Quiz
Monday: The Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, WY 1942 I chose this image because of the cool effect that the snake like river that goes out from the mountain and how the black and white contrasts deeply with rock and snow. The picture has a very interesting use of shape in hoe the mountains and sky form a nice canvas and background for the river. Tuesday: absent Wednesday: https://artwolfe.com/showcase/african-elephants-chobe-national-park-botswana/ This is a picture of elephants. It gives a really cool black and white effect on the texture of the elephants skin . It brings it out the twisted and almost gnarled and thick look of the elephants grey dark skin . https://artwolfe.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Abstracts/G0000_f0Av0_1LaM/I00005d2mOrBmG7Q This is a picture of molten lava swirling at incredibly high temperatures . It is red and yellow with a really neat sense of pattern of how the image repeats itself overlaying making natural layers. Thursday: https://artwolfe.com/showcase/lava-flow-hawaii-volcanoes-national-park-hawaii-usa/ This is an image of a volcano pouring out into the ocean with a storm in the background. It uses long exposure to create an almost painting illusion of brushstrokes etc. https://karsh.org/overview/#5 I love this image of Martin Luther king because of the lighting and black and white effect that is used to really bring out the features of he face. http://anseladams.com/ansel-adams-national-parks/ This image is of a mountain range and a river that leads to it. It uses this a a natural lines and features to lead the viewers eyes across the mountain range and sky. Friday:
Photographer: Shinnya https://www.eyeem.com/p/120915632 This photo shows two people waling underneath a big pink flowered tree. They stand out because of the brighter colors on their clothes and umbrella in contrast to the more mellow light pink of negative space. https://www.eyeem.com/p/90970206 This photo makes a man walking on a rail stand out because of the negative space in front of him. it also has a leading line telling a story of where he is going because the space is in front of him, not behind. https://www.eyeem.com/p/90630657 This is an image of a bridge on a stormy day going out into the ocean. It leads the viewers eyes to see until vanishing into the distance in a way conveying the journey that the two people are on walking out into sea It goes out so far that it eventually curves over the photo. Monday: no school Tuesday:
Wednesday: Thursday: Lines must de drawn and established, especially in American culture. Many of the lien s that have existed in times past seem to be fading into areas of grey. Such as sexuality and what counts as a human life, many of the people on the side for change tend to try and make these areas more grey than they really are i order to give some semblance of reason to their arguments. For me, one line that i will not compromise is my faith, this is something that i will not move on. I think that many more lines need to be drawn in regards to things that we hold close such as human rights, these things will have to be researched in order to have a defendable position. I honestly think America will really have to make a decision regarding abortion laws and stick with it, a positive change would to protect the lives of the millions of children who are murdered every year, truly saving generations. Friday: His gallery is amazing. He uses color in incredible ways and in some images, he actually blends the color of the surrounding and background with the main subject, which is usually an animal, to make an almost hiding subject. The effect is really cool and when you see the main subject, your eyes adjust and there is a whole new level of depth. His use of color also is not only in similar blending but also deep contrast that bring out the beauty of the image.
