Monday: "You don't a photograph, you make it" "Photography is the story i fail to put into words." Tuesday: The first photo uses bright exposure and white lights to really pull out the contrasts in the deep black and bright orange. It also focuses directly on the intimacy between the parent and child penguin which all together makes it a really compelling and interesting image. This photo has very deep blues and good usage of shadows that lead towards the center misty light . The placement of the deer creates an aspect of life in the photo that also makes it even more gloomy and mysterious. Through its use of low light, leading light, and mist this image has a really curious and deep sense of compelling storytelling. Wednesday: I really love this image because of the deep blues and lighter colors where the sun is reflecting in. Th way the fish make a natural swirl and 8 shape . I way the sun is coming in to provide light adn how it slowly fades into a deeper color scheme as the light faDES AWAY. This photo has very interesting take on the light and aperture used. It is truly a markable feat to be able to capture this lava flow. And the smoke clouds makes a very compelling image. I really like the use of color as well as is really interesting . i like how the smoke and ash are almost being shot into the sky. Thursday: My plan is to upload the photos that I have and then photoshop tomorrow. Friday: I think i can learn a lot of creative techniques from my classmates. As I look at their websites i can see a lot of different ways and approaches to the same projects and makes me want to consider more risky and advanced and creative techniques and ways to approach photography. I enjoyed the cool things like painting with light the most in the light unit.

Monday: they talk about light this way becasue we must lnow how to controla dn use it in order to take good photos . They say we must aslso have darkness, whihc is just the absesnec of klight. Light is essential to phtography adn to all fo life which is why jesus sais that he was the light o the world. I have learned that light can compleelyt cfhaneg how a photo image looks. Tuesday: I think from what I can tell by the articles, it is very important to understand light sources and the effects of different lighting angles and soft vs harder light .it is also important to be able to use shadows in your photos to create contrast. Wednesday: It is important when shooting to shoot against all black or all white backgrounds to create nice effects. It is also crucial to understand light reflection. Thursday: The most important aspect of learning light in photography is to be able to control your cameras adaptation to environments and controlling how to control the light in your image through how much you let in, how fat, and many more regarding exposure . Friday: painting with light was hard to get everything in focus and clear while adjusting the light, but it was a lot of fun to do with other people and created a really fun and cool effect. bokah was hard to get in focus but it was cool to see the effects i could create . reflections were fun to do, i didnt find this one too challenging as this leave room for a lot of creative freedom. silhouettes were fun to do but it was hard for me to make the light do what i wanted it too to make the image good.
Monday: The April photoshoot was hard to find images that would relate to the questions being asked. I found it more difficult because a lot if the topics were pretty vague and open ended and I had a difficulty creating those images. it is fun to try and imagine images reflecting society. Tuesday: painting with light-photography technique where you illuminate parts of your scene with a torch or other light, to add emphasis and color to certain objects during a long exposure. https://www.uniquephoto.com/photoinsider/light-painting-photography-tips-tricks-to-paint-with-light http://photodoto.com/light-painting-tutorials/ Silhouettes: is a wonderful way to convey drama, mystery, emotion and mood in a picture. A silhouette is defined as a view of an object or a scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. https://digital-photography-school.com/silhouette-photography-technique/ https://expertphotography.com/create-spectacular-silhouette-photography/ Wednesday: Reflections when taking photos is that they can completely alter the image from something fairly straightforward to something richer or abstract or otherwise more artistic. https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/11/50-beautiful-examples-of-reflections-photography/ Bokeh: The aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". https://www.pinterest.com/pin/622904192182263336/ Thursday: I learned that the history of landscape photography is closely related with the history of the exploration of the American West. Another thing that i learned is tips for how to take better street photography such as: Be patient. Try and find natural framing. Take breaks to look at things from new angles and to check your camera. Pay attention to details. Make use of reflections and shadows. Don't be afraid to approach people. Never delete any photos. Friday: our class has more golden color but other classrooms such as the lunchrooms who have very bright florescent lights have a mood of very awake and alive. It makes people either more attentive or usually natural sunlight makes people more relaxed and not conformed to rules. This is because of average social patterns, we connect certain lightings with moods and behavior patterns that become a natural function of our lives.
Monday: We watched a video on the history of photography, it was very interesting to learn about the beginning. It really surprised me about how early photos were invented. It was also crazy to see that for 1800 years nothing really changed, but in the past 15 years things have completely changed in the digital world . Tuesday: testing Wednesday: I'm doing documentary photography because it looked interesting to be able to capture events to inform people on what is happening. You can also tell a story with it ehich is the main purpose of every photo but for this genre it is the sole purpose. Thursday: Ive found it really interesting that most of the photos that i have seen in the documentary category are in black and white. I would have thought that trying to document something would require a lot of color details, but it seems that the opposite is true. Friday: I found it really interesting how much documentary photography has influenced news and media outlets throughout history. It is one of the most used arts for reporting and making history. I am enjoying this genre because i like showing people what i am experiencing and telling a sory adn i think this a very good genre for doing that.
Monday: 1. the pyramids- This completely shifted my perspective on the area surroundings he pyramids The first photo makes it feel really separated and remote but the second photo shows the reality of a city right. 2. Taj Mahal- The first photo shows a beautiful place that is almost paradise. But in the reality it shows a very dramatic and horrible dump with trash and pollution everywhere. I found these perspective changes interesting. It kind of bursted my bubble on what i thought these place would look like. they were interesting but kind of ruined the wonder of going to these places. Seeing the bigger pictures can usually bring more understanding but can also ruin the beauty. Its the same as when you understand all the techniques and workings of a trade tat the finished product loses its beauty. Sometime ignorance is truly bliss. Tuesday: All of these photos demonstrate good usage of rules. The first one has a great rule of thirds and is a really compelling image, while the second photo really leads my eyes up to the of the building. It really focuses on the central image . While the third photo has nice lines that make a cool effect on the object. Wednesday: My plan is to take the photos of the 2nd part with a partner soon and do the photo essay soon as homework. Thursday: look over notes Friday: Quiz
Monday: The Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, WY 1942 I chose this image because of the cool effect that the snake like river that goes out from the mountain and how the black and white contrasts deeply with rock and snow. The picture has a very interesting use of shape in hoe the mountains and sky form a nice canvas and background for the river. Tuesday: absent Wednesday: https://artwolfe.com/showcase/african-elephants-chobe-national-park-botswana/ This is a picture of elephants. It gives a really cool black and white effect on the texture of the elephants skin . It brings it out the twisted and almost gnarled and thick look of the elephants grey dark skin . https://artwolfe.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Abstracts/G0000_f0Av0_1LaM/I00005d2mOrBmG7Q This is a picture of molten lava swirling at incredibly high temperatures . It is red and yellow with a really neat sense of pattern of how the image repeats itself overlaying making natural layers. Thursday: https://artwolfe.com/showcase/lava-flow-hawaii-volcanoes-national-park-hawaii-usa/ This is an image of a volcano pouring out into the ocean with a storm in the background. It uses long exposure to create an almost painting illusion of brushstrokes etc. https://karsh.org/overview/#5 I love this image of Martin Luther king because of the lighting and black and white effect that is used to really bring out the features of he face. http://anseladams.com/ansel-adams-national-parks/ This image is of a mountain range and a river that leads to it. It uses this a a natural lines and features to lead the viewers eyes across the mountain range and sky. Friday:
Photographer: Shinnya https://www.eyeem.com/p/120915632 This photo shows two people waling underneath a big pink flowered tree. They stand out because of the brighter colors on their clothes and umbrella in contrast to the more mellow light pink of negative space. https://www.eyeem.com/p/90970206 This photo makes a man walking on a rail stand out because of the negative space in front of him. it also has a leading line telling a story of where he is going because the space is in front of him, not behind. https://www.eyeem.com/p/90630657 This is an image of a bridge on a stormy day going out into the ocean. It leads the viewers eyes to see until vanishing into the distance in a way conveying the journey that the two people are on walking out into sea It goes out so far that it eventually curves over the photo. Monday: no school Tuesday:
Wednesday: Thursday: Lines must de drawn and established, especially in American culture. Many of the lien s that have existed in times past seem to be fading into areas of grey. Such as sexuality and what counts as a human life, many of the people on the side for change tend to try and make these areas more grey than they really are i order to give some semblance of reason to their arguments. For me, one line that i will not compromise is my faith, this is something that i will not move on. I think that many more lines need to be drawn in regards to things that we hold close such as human rights, these things will have to be researched in order to have a defendable position. I honestly think America will really have to make a decision regarding abortion laws and stick with it, a positive change would to protect the lives of the millions of children who are murdered every year, truly saving generations. Friday: His gallery is amazing. He uses color in incredible ways and in some images, he actually blends the color of the surrounding and background with the main subject, which is usually an animal, to make an almost hiding subject. The effect is really cool and when you see the main subject, your eyes adjust and there is a whole new level of depth. His use of color also is not only in similar blending but also deep contrast that bring out the beauty of the image.
Monday: https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7666/16927235050_7ec8db6f67_z.jpg Single Color Theme http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2-sHAiih0FA/VlUsUpVxDEI/AAAAAAAAD8Q/YednIa_Gtzw/s1600/analogous%2Byarn1.jpg Analogous Theme Tuesday: https://digital-photography-school.com/capture-feeling-color-create-more-compelling-images/ First photo- through darker more shadow colors, puts off a mysterious and gloomy feeling. Second photo- Happy feeling through brighter more vibrant colors Thrid photo- happy and joyful/fun feeling through yellow and red . This photo demonstrates a complimentary theme because of the blue and orange, it gives off a mysterious, intriguing and beautiful vibe. This photo also drew my eyes upward almost making me wonder where this road leads, making me curious. Wednesday: The fourth photo of the storm has a very nice contrast of deep blues and darker grays. It creates a really heavy, intense, and emotional feel The swirl of colors in middle of the tornado storm also gives an. Its a very beautiful image and portrays power and danger, but also mystery. It is really appealing to me and makes me, even though its dangerous, want to be there. The first one has a blend of lighter and darker blues for the water and bright purple, yellows, and oranges for the sky . This creates a positive vibe and is very relaxing to the eye . Its very peaceful and serene, while also having a feel of all of that fading away because the sun is almost down. Almost as if the beauty is for a time, but will soon be over, making me want to enjoy the moment and the here and now. Thursday: These images strongly illustrate the photographic concept of leading lines because the very direct lines guide the viewers eyes to a central subject. I think changing the photographs angles would actualy hurt the image rather than help it.; Both of these images are very symmetrical and perfectly proportioned. Friday:
It has been said that Photography is a "picture" of one's relationship with Jesus Christ. Do you agree with this? Disagree with this? Explain your answer and your reasons in a short paragraph. I think that there are several aspects of photography that can reflect aspects of relationship, and more specifically relationships with God . Such as exposure, ISO, aperture, and many more that may have parallels between them and real life experiences in relationship. However, I couldn't really say that i think that. Monday: Color in society serves many roles of portraying emotions and certain aspects of life. For me, when i think of color I think of beauty, diversity, and expression. It amazes me how God created us to be able to see in full color . There are different ways that color affects even how we are feeling. For example red is known to cause more irritation to how someone is feeling, while a color like baby blue calms. This is why that is used for infants. Colors can also be related to countries or nationalities, such as symbols on flags. They can stand for a people, giving a society hope, endurance, and patriotism. Cultures are different with color for several reasons. Many want to be different than everyone else. It also has to do with societal standards and the location of a place. Colors can be more prevalent in certain, and thus affect which ones will be used in a flag or symbol of that place. Tuesday: absent Wednesday: 1. Blue- In some countries, blue symbolizes healing and evil repellence. Blue eye-shaped amulets, believed to protect against the evil eye, are common sights in Turkey, Greece, Iran, Afghanistan, and Albania. Blue is considered the safest color choice around the world, since it has many positive associations. In North America and Europe blue represents trust, security, and authority, and is considered to be soothing and peaceful. But it can also represent depression, loneliness, and sadness (hence having “the blues”). 2. Green- In Western cultures green represents luck, nature, freshness, spring, environmental awareness, wealth, inexperience, and jealousy (the “green-eyed monster”). Of course, green is an emblematic color for Ireland, which earned its nickname “The Emerald Isle” from its lush green landscapes. Green has traditionally been forbidden in Indonesia, whereas in Mexico it’s a national color that stands for independence. In the Middle East green represents fertility, luck, and wealth, and it’s considered the traditional color of Islam. In Eastern cultures green symbolizes youth, fertility, and new life, but it can also mean infidelity. In fact, in China, green hats are taboo for men because it signals that their wives have committed adultery! 3. Red- Red symbolizes excitement, energy, passion, action, love, and danger in Western cultures. It’s also associated with communism and revolution in countries like Russia. In Asian cultures red is a very important color — it symbolizes good luck, joy, prosperity, celebration, happiness, and a long life. Because it’s such an auspicious color, brides often wear red on their wedding day and red envelopes containing money are given out during holidays and special occasions. In India red is associated with purity, sensuality, and spirituality. On the other hand, some countries in Africa associate red with death, and in Nigeria it represents aggression and vitality. It’s considered a lucky charm in Egypt and symbolizes good fortune and courage in Iran. 4. Yellow- In Western cultures, yellow is associated with happiness, cheeriness, optimism, warmth (as the color of sunlight), joy, and hope, as well as caution and cowardice. In Germany, yellow represents envy, but in Egypt, it conveys happiness and good fortune. Thursday: Quiz Friday: God gave us color as an expression of His nature. He is unique and diverse and the range/depth of who He is goes so far beyond simply a black and white world. Just as He created everything else-including man, hHe made color to bring diversity and uniqueness and depth
