Monday: Rules are important because it provides structure and order to our lives and world. Without rules societies could not exist and it would be chaos. It is the same in photography. The rules provide guidelines for excellence and enhance the beauty and art of a photograph. ![]() Tuesday: Symmetry- Use Symmetry to Improve Your Photographs
Symmetry is all around us and has always been associated with beauty, so why not use it? Depending on how you are holding the camera and how much of a scene you choose to show, you can strengthen or weaken the symmetric properties of an object or scene. Roberto Valenzuela shows you how. This chapter is from the book SYMMETRY refers to a line that splits an object in half and, if both sides of the object are an exact mirror image of each other, then this object is said to be symmetrical. The line that splits a symmetrical object is called the line of symmetry. Symmetry is a powerful tool that lets you automatically create harmony and a sense of aesthetically pleasing balance and proportion in a photograph. You probably remember learning about symmetry in geometry class, but I rarely see photographers apply it in their work. That’s too bad, because symmetry is a powerful photographic tool. Symmetry is all around us and has always been associated with beauty, so why not use it? Depending on how you are holding the camera and how much of a scene you choose to show, you can strengthen or weaken the symmetric properties of an object or scene. Although there are many types of symmetries, for our purpose let’s focus on two types:
http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1845761 -This photo shows the balance between the object and its proportion down the middle of the photo . Wednesday: absent Thursday: Article: http://www.ultimate-photo-tips.com/photography-rules-of_composition.html Photo: https://fcaphotonewcomb.weebly.com/blog/rules-of-photography This rule demonstrates a balance between things that are one in front of the other. By placing one larger thing behind a smaller things, there can be. a balance where the two look the same size. This here demonstrates that. This is different than asymmetry because its not making the photo symmetrical, its making the objects look balanced. Friday: I have found that getting the exposure right and adjusted properly in different times of the day takes some time to get used to. Another thing that i have found is that shadows shift during the different times, which can leads to cool different effects and angles. The third thing that i have noticed is that the time of day can completely change the story the photo tells. Depending on the time and angle, the photo can have a completely different thee to it.

Monday: President's Day Tuesday: Absent Wednesday: How do you think that Photography is an image of life and our walk with God? Photography is an amigo elf life because of its power tp influence, and provoke people' s emotions and challenge ideas. Just as someone can be influenced by photography and they can be changed, so it is also in our walks with God. God is an influencer and can change someone in an instant, bringing from darkness to light. This is also true in photos. someones complete worldview can be impacted by one simple image. Thursday: Quiz Friday: I disagree with the quote . It takes a very optimistic view to life, which i love. however when you try to apply this quote to real life that it begins to fail. The very nature of the quote says says that if you have a "bad shot" to just develop from it and take another . The problem with this is, there are many times where people just do not have another chance . For example, i knew several people who were very young that died immediately in a car accident on the highway. These young girls will never have a chance to "develop" from the bad thing that happened to them. One of my best friends in 3rd grade was diagnosed with brain cancer. He is still Alive today. but he has no more than 5 years and the treatments fried his brain so he cannot think. The person he is today is simply a shallow shell for who he used to be. And if i were to try and give him this quote, there would be a poor response from his family. On the other hand, I love what this quote says about focusing on the good things, because there will be bad things that happen, that is part of living on earth. I also love what it says about capturing the good moments, because honestly if we only focused on the negative then we would constantly live in a state of depression. So i strongly agree that we need to focus and capture the good moments . but i think when we try to say that all of life is simply something that at can just be "redone" that kind of worldview quickly falls apart .
Monday: https://townsendnfcaphoto.weebly.com/blog 2-12-17 The difference between these photos is primarily the angle captured. The standard lens has a much narrower perspective, while the wide lens has a broader angle captured. The wide lens also squishes part of the middle of the photo in so that it can squeeze in the wider, almost panoramic view. The standard lens also seems to be more crisper in image quality . http://www.contentcreatorslounge.com/teacher-resources/video-screen-capture-tools/dslr-camera/camera-lenses-explained/ 2-12-17 The difference between these photos is primarily the angle captured. The wide angle lenses color scheme also seems to be much brighter and vibrant. the blues in the photo seem much more alive. Tuesday: Why is Exposure an important part of creating images - Photography Composition? Exposure is essential for photography creation because the amount of light that is let in completely transforms what an mage looks like. Without the control of light, or exposure you wouldn't know how an image would look, it could be bad or good, but it is all left up to chance. Exposure is critical for developing and making a good photo.
Monday: Exposure is the mix off the different elements that determine how much light is let into an image; ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. Tuesday: Its better to use modes like P instead of Portrait, sports mode, etc. Because you have more control over what is happening and can usually get a more individualized and better quality photo. With the more basic modes, the camera just guesses what you want, and doesn't always capture what the photographer wants. Wednesday: https://coderjfcaphoto.weebly.com/blog/look-of-lens This photo shows a much greater portrait effect on the 50mm lens. The kit lens captures more of the entire details, but the 50mm seems to have more of an amplified affect. https://www.itsalwaysautumn.com/8-steps-to-better-photos-on-auto-step-8-50mm-lens-for-gorgeo.html The 50mm lens has a much better portrait mode in this photo. It concentrates a lot better on the subject of the photo, while the kit lens still has more of the distractions in the background. Thursday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faQVM3dhzQQ 2-8-18 Starting off, the 35mm lens captures a farther view and has more focus on the background. Moving up, the 50mm lens goes .a little closer with an even more blurry background. Finally, the 85mm lens takes the closets with the most blury background. ![]() https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4069968?page=6 2-8-18 Starting off, the 35mm lens captures a farther view and has more focus on the background. Friday: I'm starting to understand more about how exposure works. The one thing that i am still confused and trying to understand more is how all three settings work together to maker good lighting. Yesterday I was shooting and the hardest part was learning how to get the three to make a good photo.
Monday: The purpose of photography is to capture events and memories. And to express the world and the lives of people through a form of art. It also helps the world see things that are happening that words cannot fully express. Tuesday: I think the biggest problem with the photography ethics debate is that this discussion has so many grey areas and things that could be left up to subjective opinion. So much of the conversations have no really clear right and wrong and many things are hard to discuss, because, again there are a lot of subjective subjects and topics to be discussed. There are many things that are clearly not ok, for example editing and corrupting photos for journalism and reporting news. But other things such as modeling, cropping, the use of photoshop in general are not super clear in where the line is and this makes it hard to discuss these things in an attempt to find an objective right or wrong, because in a lot of case, there isn't one. Wednesday: quiz Thursday: Focal length, usually represented in millimeters (mm), is the basic description of a photographic lens. It is not a measurement of the actual length of a lens, but a calculation of an optical distance from the point where light rays converge to form a sharp image of an object to the digital sensor or 35mm film at the focal plane in the camera. The focal length of a lens is determined when the lens is focused at infinity. It is measured this way because this is the measurement that actually matters when taking a photo, not the actual size of a lens. Friday: I would love to explore more on how to actually use these things we are learning on my camera. Im starting to understand more about what happens in exposure and that sort of thing. Now, I would really like to know more on how to to it and adjust these settings when I'm taking photos. The video made a lot of sense about how these 3 things work together to create depth of field and expose. I thought it was crazy how technical it can get because all I have ever used is a point and shoot before.
Monday: There are two types of digital graphics files – vector and raster. Vector images are made of hundreds of thousands of tiny lines and curves (or paths) to create an image. Raster images are composed of pixels. -Vector images, which are made of thin lines and curves known as paths, are rooted in mathematical theory. Vector graphics must be created in computer software that is designed to create this intricate wireframe-type image and each line includes defined node positions, node locations, line lengths and curves. -Raster images are often called bitmap images because they are made of millions of tiny squares, called pixels. You can identify a raster or bitmap image by looking at it very closely. If you zoom in enough, you will be able to see the square outlines of each pixel It is important to know the difference to be aware of how to use each one correctly. It is also important to be able to format them because they are different, vector especially being harder to use. It Is also important to know that vector images have to made on a computer software. This will help with clarity as a photographer. Tuesday:
Wednesday: Composition is the arrangement of artistic elements together t make a single, whole, thing, such as a photo, painting, etc. 1. Perspective- Even though the human eye sees things subjectively, the camera still sees things objectively. So, we have to change our point of view or perspective in where we are taking the photo from in order for it to capture the image in our minds. 2. Dynamics-change things such as light to guide the eyes of the viewer to see what the main subject and points of the photograph are 3. Leading Lines- These are lines that guide the eyes of the viewer so that they can "read" the photo and see where their eyes are supposed to go. These can be very direct, or more natural and dynamic. 4. Capture Moments- Waiting for time, shape, and form. Can capture different moments without any distracting elements. 5. Fill the frame- Filling the frame with content can be a way of reducing distractions and focusing the eye of the viewer onto the main object or subject of the photograph. 6. Reduce and Simplify- by getting closer and cropping, gets rid of the distractions. 7. Rule of thirds- This goes along with perspective, but this places the primary subject in one of the intersecting lines and makes the photograph such more interesting. Thursday: I think that photography is an amazing way to share Jesus Christ with others because of the effect that art can have on people. When you capture beauty and magical moments, it leads to an amazing opportunity to give glory for this wonderful creation to a perfect creator. So when someone takes photos with excellent;lence I think a very simple next step is to bring back glory to God for the beauty that you have captured. Friday: The ethics of photography is a code that journalists and photographers must work by which protects the reliability of a source, video, or photograph. The ethic of photography might be a concern in something like a news article or report, where people are affected by the way that they are presented. This concerns me because I never want to falsely portray a person, place, or image, so this ethical code provides a guide on how to not do this.
Monday: Martin Luther King Day Tuesday: I do not know much about Adobe photoshop or Adobe Bridge or how to use them. I do know that edit photos in creative ways. Wednesday: I think my biggest struggle as a photographer is capturing the right amount of exposure/light to make it a good photo. also, there are some times when my photos are not a clear as I would want them to be. Thursday: Based on my experience so far, I do agree with this statement. photography is an art, not something you just "take", art is something that you make. Photography is something that without someone making it happen, the image would not carry the beauty that it does. Friday: The hardest software for me to get was the photoshop. Mow, however I am understanding how to format the photos more. There is still some confusion on how to format turning things in. As in do it everyday more and more, the bellwork aspect of things is becoming easier.
Monday: first day Tuesday: The purpose of photography is to capture events and memories, and to express the world and the lives of people through a form of art. Wednesday: Photography: 1. the art or practice of taking and processing photographs.- wikipedia 2. an image of an object, person, scene, etc, in the form of a print or slide recorded by a camera on photosensitive material Often shortened to photo- dictionary.com 3. the art of capturing images through the processing of photographs Thursday: absent Friday: I think the hardest picture to capture will be to combine the random words and make something out of it.
