Monday: The purpose of photography is to capture events and memories. And to express the world and the lives of people through a form of art. It also helps the world see things that are happening that words cannot fully express. Tuesday: I think the biggest problem with the photography ethics debate is that this discussion has so many grey areas and things that could be left up to subjective opinion. So much of the conversations have no really clear right and wrong and many things are hard to discuss, because, again there are a lot of subjective subjects and topics to be discussed. There are many things that are clearly not ok, for example editing and corrupting photos for journalism and reporting news. But other things such as modeling, cropping, the use of photoshop in general are not super clear in where the line is and this makes it hard to discuss these things in an attempt to find an objective right or wrong, because in a lot of case, there isn't one. Wednesday: quiz Thursday: Focal length, usually represented in millimeters (mm), is the basic description of a photographic lens. It is not a measurement of the actual length of a lens, but a calculation of an optical distance from the point where light rays converge to form a sharp image of an object to the digital sensor or 35mm film at the focal plane in the camera. The focal length of a lens is determined when the lens is focused at infinity. It is measured this way because this is the measurement that actually matters when taking a photo, not the actual size of a lens. Friday: I would love to explore more on how to actually use these things we are learning on my camera. Im starting to understand more about what happens in exposure and that sort of thing. Now, I would really like to know more on how to to it and adjust these settings when I'm taking photos. The video made a lot of sense about how these 3 things work together to create depth of field and expose. I thought it was crazy how technical it can get because all I have ever used is a point and shoot before.
